MPLS Streamlines information passage through Routers

MPLS streamlines information that is passed from one router to the other. This is because MPLS enhances scalability and passage of information at various traffic engineering tunnels. With easy and convenient passing of information, the time taken to go from one point to the other also reduces considerably. In MPLS transfer the data packets are labeled and contain two set of elements that are recognized and routed along the path mentioned by them – IP address prefix, host address and more. The distribution of labeled packets becomes very easy and efficient with the help of MPLS.

MPLS – No more relying on Multiple Layer Networks

As MPLS is a packet-switching network it totally emits the reliance on data link layer networks and multiple layer 2 networks. It works on OSI model I.e open source interconnections. What MPLS does is attach a four element label stack to the data and sends it on the label switching protocol network. These labeled data packets are then sent through LERs, LSRs, LDP. This model on which MPLS is based offers protection, security and efficiency in data transfer.
